A seal may fail when pumping solutions loaded with solids (also known as lime slurry), concentrated sludge, and liquid waste from glass polishing.

These are liquids with a high concentration of suspended solids. They form what is called “abrasive dust” due to the hardness of these particles, which grind and wear down the friction surfaces and joints of mechanical seals.
